Like melting ice cubes

You really want to get things done, but you feel like a melting ice cube and with every step you take, another body part evaporates, making it impossible to do anything.. Recognizable?

Today I wanted to work on my blog, understand the functioning of WordPress better and maybe write a blog post. As I open my computer and get seated, it already hits me.. right between the eyes. I had been moving around too fast and now I felt my heart banging in my head. I can’t think of anything other than the heat. The warmth, as a thick layer on my skin, no wind, no air… and I ask myself, how the hell does Mathias cope with this? And all the other Cartageneros?!

When you come visiting Cartagena, you notice a lot of people sleeping in the streets. You notice the slowness of life. Something I didn’t understand when I arrived, “How can they be soo slow?”. Colombians are lazy, I thought.

But now, I know better. When someone would hold the door for me, and I ran a bit to not make him wait, they would say “Tranquilo!” (-Chill!), When I would stress about being late for an appointment, they would say “No te preoccupa, mi amor” (- Don’t worry about it, love). Because they know, when you do worry and hurry.. you will get wet of sweat!

So next time you see a Colombian sleeping, know that he probably just worked his ass off and is now trying to get back some energy that left his body while sweating out of every pore.

As for me, I am going to take a shower, a glass of lemon water and lay myself in my hamaca!
Enough work done for today 😉
